Installing the ICA Client
SUMMARY
This document outlines the steps necessary to install the Citrix ICA
client on your computer.
DIRECTIONS
1.
Visit the HAI Download Center to
download the client software from HAI. Click on HTTP or FTP Depending upon
which protocol you require. (You can also go to the iStat System page and click on the "Citrix ICA Client, Windows 95/98/NT
4.0" link).
2.
If your browser gives you the opportunity to
"Open" or "Run" or "Execute" the file, you
should take that opportunity and SKIP to step 5.
3.
Download the installation file onto a
directory on your local PC. It does not matter where you put it, but you do
need to know and remember where it is. The file is about 4 MB. On a slow
connection, it could take up to 1/2 hour to download. On a fast corporate
connection, it should take about 5 minutes.
4.
When the download is complete, close your
browser. Using Windows Explorer, locate the file you just downloaded on your
hard drive, and double click it to begin the software installation.
5.
You should see a screen like the one below.
Press the Next button.

6.
This window should appear. HAI has secured
licenses for all its authorized clients to use the ICA Client software in
connection with our product offerings. Press NEXT.

7.
Next you should see the following screen. Click Yes once
you have read and agreed to the license agreement.

8.
If you see the screen below, choose
"Upgrade the existing client". HAI supports the use of the latest
build of the Secure ICA Client. If you already use Citrix at your site and
are using an older or un-encrypted version of the client, you can replace it
with this client. Citrix assures us that newer clients are backward
compatible with all the older versions of the client. We have found this to
be true in every instance. Press NEXT.

9.
You will not see this screen if you have
chosen to upgrade the existing client previously. Select the program folder.
We prefer that you use the default "Citrix ICA Client" program
folder because it makes it easier to support you. However, if you have a reason
to place this in a different folder, you may do so. Press NEXT.

10.
Choose your computer's name (ClientName). Normally, the system will default to an
appropriate name. If this name is blank or "Default", you will need
to give it a name. Select a name that is unique on OUR system. We recommend
something like your name followed by a computer number. DO NOT CALL IT "OEM
computer" OR "DEFAULT"-- these names are
not unique on our system and will cause operational problems. Press NEXT.

11.
The next screen you see asks you if you would
like to use your local account information for Citrix sessions. You DO NOT want to use this option because
your local system information will not be recognized by our system. Please
click on No and press next.

12.
Setup is complete. You will be prompted to
reboot your system to enable the use of new features. Please click the Yes, I
want to restart my computer now selection and press finish.

13.
You can now re-start your Internet Browser, go
to the iStat System page and click on "Run iSTAT"
or any other "Run" program link which appears there.
