HAI Internet Filing Cabinet: Uploading and Downloading Files via a Web Browser

SUMMARY

Available to all Citrix (iSTAT/iMIRS/iEtc.) users, the Internet Filing Cabinet provides a place on the HAI web server where users can upload and download files via a web browser. This is useful mainly because the Citrix Client is less efficient at moving large files down line than the web server. Some heavy users already use the FTP server for this same reason. The advantage the Internet Filing Cabinet offers is the ability to encrypt the transmissions and upload files to any drive on your network. All Citrix users have a directory on the server.

Whenever a user logs onto an HAI Server via iSTAT, iMIRS, etc., that user's filing cabinet directory on the server is mapped to a drive letter (M:). Any files saved to this directory during the user's session will be available for download the next time he/she logs onto the Internet Filing Cabinet.

PREREQUISITES

Users of the Internet Filing Cabinet service will require a current HAI user account. To utilize the upload and download features, you must be using Netscape Navigator/Communicator v4.0+ or Microsoft Internet Explorer v4.0+.

DIRECTIONS

LOG ON

To use the Internet Filing Cabinet from your web browser, click on the Internet Filing Cabinet from the Data Services menu.

Type in your User Name and Password as assigned by HAI. Contact us if you need a password or have forgotten your password.

Once you have successfully logged onto the Internet Filing Cabinet, your User Name and your current directory of your Internet Filing Cabinet will be displayed.

DOWNLOADING FILES

The Internet Filing Cabinet includes two methods in which you can download files from the server. Single Mode enables you to download files one at a time from the server. Multiple Mode allows you to select and download several files at a time.

SINGLE FILE DOWNLOAD

  1. From the menu, click on the name of the file you wish to download.

  2. If you are prompted for a location to save the file, choose a directory on your local computer where you would like the browser to store it. If the file format is recognized by your web browser, the file will open directly. From the "File" menu of your browser, select "Save As", and save the file to a directory on your computer.

MULTIPLE FILE DOWNLOAD

  1. From the menu, check the boxes to the left of the files you wish to download. (If you want to start over, click the "Reset" button to clear all boxes.)

  2. Press the button marked "Download". The server will combine your selections into a single self-extracting compressed archive file.

  3. When finished compressing, the server will send the archive file (with the file extension ".exe") to your browser. Your browser will give you two options: Run this program from its current location -OR- Save this file to disk.

    • Run Program from its Current Location
If you choose this option, you will be asked to install and run "rad<random file name>.exe from www.haiint.com?" Select "Yes", and a self-extractor program will be launched to extract your files. The default extraction location will be "c:\temp\hai", but you may unzip the files into any valid directory.

    • Save this file to Disk
This option saves the self-extracting file to your computer. Run the self extractor at any time to extract the files to your hard drive. The default extraction location will be "c:\temp\hai", but you may unzip the files into any valid directory.

DELETING FILES FROM YOUR FILING CABINET

  1. Check the box next to the name(s) of the file(s) you want removed from your filing cabinet or by using the SELECT ALL button at the bottom of the screen to select all files.

  2. Press the "Delete" button to continue. The name and status of each deleted file will be displayed.

  3. When the file has been deleted, you will return to the Internet Filing Cabinet main menu. Do not use the back button on your browser, as the deleted file(s) will still be displayed in the Internet Filing Cabinet.

UPLOADING FILES TO YOUR CABINET

  1. To upload a file, press the "Browse" button and select a file. Press "Upload" to send the selected file to your filing cabinet.

  2. After the upload is complete, you will be notified of the destination, name, size of file in bytes and the file(s) you have attempted to upload.

  3. When the upload is complete, you will return to the Internet Filing Cabinet main menu. Do not use the back button on your browser, as the uploaded file(s) will not be displayed in the Internet Filing Cabinet.

TYPICAL USE

Most users will use the Internet Filing Cabinet as a method for uploading Industry data from iSTAT (Citrix server) to the HAI Internet Filing Cabinet (the HAI web server) where it can be easily and securely accessed by others in your organization.

The User will sign on to iSTAT. Then, he/she will go to "Export to Mainframe" from the Submit menu and choose the file(s) they wish to export. Make sure the path is set to M:\. (The M:\ drive is the location of the Internet Filing Cabinet directory.) The export file will be placed into your Internet Filing Cabinet, where it can then be downloaded by anyone with the correct Username and Password.
