Connecting to an HAI Terminal Server Through a Firewall

SUMMARY

This document summarizes the basic requirements of a firewall to connect to one of HAI's Terminal Servers (also known as a Citrix Server). Actual implementation details will vary depending on your particular firewall product.

PREREQUISITES

You will need to know which server(s) HAI has assigned for your particular application. If you don't already know, please call HAI for the DNS names/IP addresses.

DIRECTIONS

1. Open up INBOUND and OUTBOUND TCP port 1494 to the HAI Server IP address.

To eliminate the possibility that a routing issue is causing connection problems, make sure that you can traceroute FROM THE FIREWALL first, then setup the rules for TCP 1494.

2. To test that the connection is working you can perform the following step. Go to a command prompt on your system. Type the following command:

telnet (server) 1494

Please replace (server) with the IP address or DNS Name of the server you connect to. If the connection is working you will see a response that resembles the following:

ICA ICA ICA...
